DooMSoldiers Running Acedemy: - Free Enrollment!
Introducing the DooMSoldiers Running Academy!
After long thought and hours spent accumulating gold for the purchase of "Gobs", I decided that there should be a community contributed FREE enrollment running academy. I don't see why we can't join together and share information on running in GuildWars without charging each other horrific amounts for our running builds and strategies.
So it is my intent to open my infinitely miniscule book of knowledge and share it with others who also find great enjoyment in running people from one place to another in the game. With this in mind I also open up for discussion any "kid tested and mother approved" running builds. I've seen many distributed throughout the forums here but no all inclusive post. With your help, maybe this can be it.
Regarding joining the academy, all I ask is that you message me in-game or on X-Fire (username: JaktUp) and chat with me for a bit concerning your interest in joining. Whether you join or not, I will still be happy to show anyone around as time permits. As the academy grows this knowledge can be shared from academy members.
Finally and MOST important: If you are to join you MUST be serious about your intentions to learn and not waste anyone's time. You MUST be HONEST and straightforward in your dealings with your fellow gamers. In the event you scam or mislead anyone regarding a run, you will be denied any privilage of association with this academy. I will eventually group runners according to ability/running preference. As we grow things will be delegated to those that prove their skills and level of commitment to making this thing work.
I will be posting soon the build that I currently use (screenshots and stats). I make absolutely no claims to brilliance regarding my build as many of you will most likely find very generic. All I can share with you is what has worked for me therefore again leaving a running build completely open to discussion.
I will also continue to post information throughout the week regarding: Available runs, Pricing and runner contact information.
Thanks for reading! I hope to see your contributions on this thread...
FYI: I have been running for 3 months. I offer runs virtually everywhere except copperhammer and granite which I hope to offer in the near future.
Runs currently offered by myself or others in the academy:
A full post-searing run for those that want to get their characters ascended ASAP!:
This run starts at Ascalon and ends in Sanctum Cay! 10K Per person
Here is where we stop along the way:
Piken Square
Grendich's Courthouse
Yak's Bend
Icetooth Cave
Beacons Perch - Here we drop down to Camp Rankor and Droknar's Forge (where you can get max armor)
We'll meet again at Beacon's Perch and proceed to:
Lion's Arch
D'Alessio Seaboard
Bergen Hot Springs
Temple of Ages
Fisherman's Haven and finally,
Sanctum Cay
Droknar's Forge Run: 3K Per Person
Taking 1.5K @ SnakeDance then 1.5 @ Camp Rankor then finishing run...
Elona Reach Mission: 2K Per person
No effort required on your part. Payment taken when last crystal is in hand and about to be handed to ghost to complete ritual.
Additional ascension mission help can be provided upon request and availability.
There are hundreds of other shorter or longer runs available but simply to many to price out here. So these will be left up to the runner and runnee to discuss and agree upon pricing.
FYI:
I do have a guild so you are welcome to join that, or if you choose, stay in your own and you will still get all the help that I or anyone else involved can give. Also this is entirely open to any already experienced and knowledgeable runners! I certainly could use help with helping others to learn...

I'm short on time but for those who want a jump start, here is a quick screenshot. You can see what skills I make use of and my layout. I like how you can see more this way.

I'm trying to follow forum guidelines on the images here. Also, for any admins looking, I tried to alter my thread title to take out the :: but they stayed, (sorry)

I'll be honest, I don't usually run with any enchantments on. I was actually testing out different set ups last night when I took that screenshot. Of corse you'll need to make your own judgement on the amount of enchantments you can handle with energy limitations.
Here is what I usually run with:
Charge
Balanced Stance
Sprint
Endure Pain
Healing Breeze
Purge Conditions
Remove Hex
Holy Veil - Quarrell Falls I think
I'll post my attribute settings when I get a chance to look.
I'll admit I hadn't run Droknar's but twice since the last couple of updates and it was a lot harder than it ever has been before. After reading though, I found that Holy Veil is what you want to use to counter all the hexes that slow you down since it will take much longer for them to be cast on you allowing you to run on by. Also if it ends, it takes a hex off of you. I've got the run back under control now.
Anyway, make suggestions or criticisms and we'll all learn more together.

As you may have already read on the forums, it is suggested that you have ascended your warrior, completed both 15 attribute quests and have max armor (preferably Gladiators for the energy). I've seen countless runners use different armor but the energy can be difficult to maintain in sticky situations.
I will be on tonight, so if anyone is interested in getting paths down or need help with your character message me. I'll be doing some Droknar's Forge runs.
Again, if you have info that you think might help your fellow runners, please post it here.

A basic question - do you cast healing breeze before or after each leg in the run?
I found that covering up my enchantments with a temporary like that helps in doing runs - it deflects some damage at the very start and is usually the first one stripped before the hexes start.
I find that I don't have enough energy to cast it at the end of the run, given the alternation of Sprint/Charge and the constant hex/condition removal.

Hehe, interesting thread and one that may or may not be met with all claps and cheers, but a worthwhile topic still. Paying to "learn" to run, seems a bit out there, but I guess that some people would prefer to have the trial and error done for them, or lack the creativity or patience to figure a technique out for themselves. Nothing wrong with that, just not something so complicated that I feel the need to hire a "tutor", lol. Running to me is fun to do once in a while just because I can or to help a friend, but I don't play Guild Wars to have a "job". Still, it is a fairly easy way to make some income and is in pretty much constant demand. The run that of course is the one that most people will be interested in working on is the Beacons to Droknars trip, which is generally the most profitable and easiest to fill up.
Your build using Holy Veil is similar to the one that I run in that area and generally I have good success with it. I am not going to say that I am 100%, but I can solo it fairly consistently, without having to use party members as a diversion, though that makes it easier with most spawns.
I have both a full 15k Gladiators and 15k Plate set and find that I prefer to run the Plate set with the Knights Helmet for the best look and increased base of 85 and have of course Superior Vigor and Absorption on it. I use the +5 energy sword (Furious 10%, +30hp for good measure) for the energy boost which equals back to about where a Gladiators set would be, and a -2/-3 Eternal Shield for the majority of the run, though I often switch up to a +30 always Shadow when things get tight. If I use the Gladiator set with the +5 energy sword then I am over 30 Energy, which works well for certain runs using more healing skills.
I have found the majority of runs are sleepwalks (I usually put my runner on "cruise control" and work on my Warsteiners for the more mundane of them) and the rest are fairly easy to do so long as you know your route, take opportunities to use "safe points" to heal, and don't rush or let the people you are running hurry you when you should be recharging/healing. As with anything a bit of ingenuity and forethought goes a long ways.

Silly as it may sound, I've never cast HB like that before, but it sounds like a good idea. Otherwise, I usually cast it whenever needed. Sorry I'm not much help.
Maybe someone else has input?

I don't mind a mesmer joining at all. I'm not sure just how effective a mesmer would be on some of the more difficult runs, but I'll leave that to you to decide. In the meantime, I'll be happy to show you the routes and see how you do.
You may consider making another character. From time to time I will be assisting people working on their runners to get ascended and routes down. The more we have in a group the better and we can get you going.

Shows how "out to lunch" my brain is today! It has been fixed! Thanks for pointing that out.
On your first note however, I would prefer this to be community project rather than I myself attempting to run the show alone.

with the new patch and having unlimited refunds, why bother with any axe mastery, seems like it would be better to pump u breeze or another actually important attribute
edit: oops forgot to hit submit for 10 minutes and someone already made my point, oh well
